As a result of this only XInput controllers will work properly, old DI controllers will be speaking a foreign language as far as XInput is concerned. Any Condition Any Condition. And even if extra APIs are ‘trivial’, time is still one of the most valued resources during a game’s development. So games are affordable while hardware is not. I guess what I’m saying is why isn’t there a pre-made API for generic controller use? What say you of them? I sold my xbox like years ago, but I kept my wired controller for my PC.

I also brought it on a plane and was playing 2 player games with the DS3. I agree completely that MS should make xinput like directinput in accessibility. DirectX has 2 ways of dealing with controller input.
I can appreciate people who like the xbox controller, but I’m mad because I have a full functional controller already that I like, and I do not like nor want to use a controller.
After realizing that Dirt 3 would let me rebind buttons on my pad but not let me save them because it wasn’t one of the half-dozen peripherals recommended by the game but the buttons still work fineI got a pad. Between the pad and a keyboard and mouse, You missed my point. I am also glad we have the user-made alternatives that free us from hardcoded restrictions Whose very existence should prove theirs some market there, even if it’s obviously not the largest considering the torrid of downvotes I got everytime I mentioned I had a dissenting opinion about the ‘s design.
You do know that thousands of people make this choice windows only software or even one with a smaller upside – Mac or iOS apps. No one is stopping any developer from adding in extra gamepad support.
That’s pretty much what I was saying. If you try using a Dvorak, you’ll spend time rebinding the keys.
It would be syztems if DI was still supported too, but eventually you have to cut Backwards Compatibility or you end up like the Khronos Group with OpenGL, a mess and all but irrelevant where you were once a giant. Having a working right joystick, proper buttons being displayed, and consistent rumble all in the same game pretty omuse never happened when I used the converter setup. I assumed they would still support Sticks since are a whole different beast.

There are a handful boogfyman differences between the API’s which make it annoying to use both at the same time. What has that got to do with battery efficiency?
Maybe buy some of these http: I agree that we shouldn’t be forced to use one specific type. I find the GCN controller quite comfortable as well, although the triggers could use improvement.

When it comes down to particular devices with particular outputs to the computer, you have to accommodate them specifically, and game-makers don’t tend to focus their time on that stuff, especially if the parent-companies are competing for market-share. Most controllers unless very cheap have a mode to switch between D and X direct or X. This post has already gotten far too long but let me remind you of one joystixk thing: I guess what I’m saying is why isn’t there a pre-made API for generic controller use?

Super Meat Boy plays way better with the controller, even if you’re using the analog stick over the D-pad. What say you of them?
I’m not saying the controller is bad, and I don’t see why it is so important for you to defend it. As for Sony, even though they already manufacture controllers, they don’t care all that much for the PC and make no real effort to boogehman the PS3 controller on PC.
Right, which brings us back to my original question: You realize that for many games it’s not just a matter of mapping the buttons to the controls, right? A non-slip, ergonomic grip make the Bogeyman comfortable for longer gaming sessions and give it a radically different look from run-of-the-mill joysticks. I use both about the same amount, and I find them both comfortable. Become a Redditor and subscribe to one of thousands of communities. That’s one of the questions I had that made me start this thread.
