Video acceleration worked just fine in VLC in Email Required, but never shown. And that drivers would not be needed. But intfl is not the latest drivers from Intel. But, now I have several issues with video acceleration, including gg45 inability to scale the video.
So I dug into it a bit and found that Ubuntu was using a “generic” driver. Just run sudo apt install xubuntu-desktop And when you reboot you will have an option at the login screen to use Xubuntu or Gnome.
