I found, that the modular bay creates extremely high constant system latencies, that were completely remedied by removing the DVD-RW drive! This is due to WiFi management issues under Vista of any kind. Last night I plugged a set of speakers into the headphone jack of my laptop to try and listen to music on better speakers.
